D. Tiffany's style is pitched somewhere between electro and techno. The eighth release on her Planet Euphorique label, by the American producer Ronan, embodies that fusion. "Dream Portal" is a mix of vintage techno sounds—seagull synths, birdsong squiggles—and twitchy drums and pads from Dopplereffekt's playbook. Though it borrows liberally from '90s techno and electro, it feels modern, a feeling underlined by Reptant's more straightforward electro remix on the B-side. Like most records on Planet Euphorique, Dream Portal is inspired by dance music history but sounds like the future.
