With her fresh release on Circus Recordings, ‘8T'S’, Alfie speaks to us on her musical inspirations, her residency on Bloop and the high points of her career so far. Listen 8T'S on Beatport
You just released your new track on Circus Recordings, ‘8T’S’. Did you have any inspirations for the track while producing it? Tell us more about it.
My debut track, '8T'S', was honestly one of those rare sessions where everything just clicked. I went into the studio with a really clear vision of the sound I wanted to create, and by the end of the session it had come together almost exactly how I'd imagined.
A big source of inspiration was from going to ANTS at Drumsheds the weekend before, especially watching Manda Moor and Sirius Hood go back-to-back. The energy of that set, the groove, really stuck with me.
I left feeling inspired and wanted to channel that feeling into something of my own. Seeing it go from an idea in the studio, to being released on Circus Recordings has been a surreal experience, and I'm really proud that my debut release came together so naturally - especially on such a legendary label!
You have your own summer series of edits that come out every month, called ‘Alfresco edits.’ Tell us more about this.
My summer series of edits is called ‘Alfresco edits’. It’s one track released a month for summer.
I wanted the concept to capture that feel-good, open-air energy that summer brings, while also giving it a little nod to my name.
The edits themselves are all built around older tunes that I've always loved. Rather than completely reinventing them, I’ve given them a fresh perspective, so they work in my sets today while still keeping the charm that made me fall in love with them in the first place. It's about respecting the original while adding my own touch.
We can tune into your radio show, Bloop. What can listeners expect from Bloop and the vibe it brings through the radio waves?
Bloop Radio is really my space to share everything that inspires me musically. It's a reflection of who I am as a DJ and the records I genuinely love.
You can expect deep tech, minimal groovers, rolling house, with selections that move across both new tunes and older records that have stood the test of time.
I love having the residency because it gives me the freedom to tell a different story each month. Some shows lean deeper, others are more energetic and dancefloor-driven, depending on what I've been digging and playing recently. It's a chance to showcase the music that's exciting me in that moment, rather than chasing trends or sticking to one formula.
More than anything, I want listeners to come away having discovered something new, whether that's an unreleased track, a forgotten classic, or an artist they hadn't heard before. Bloop is an honest representation of my taste and the music I connect with, and I hope that passion comes through every show.
You’ve got shows in London and Greece coming up. Would you say touring is a highpoint in your career, or do you prefer the creative side of producing?
Touring/ playing out in general, goes hand in hand to me with the music. You can really lock in and make some unreal tunes but the crowd reaction to me is something that solidifies a tune. It doesn’t have to be huge drops for a reaction, if it connects with a crowd you’ll know. That’s the goosebumps moment.
So I guess touring for me is always going to be a high point, getting to do what I love in new countries I’ve never been to, to strangers who are all here for the same reason.
